Urban Konkrete Records is a brand new online record label set up by Martin West to promote, licence and release fresh new dance, rap and pop music.
With 20 years experience in music production, Martin is set to make sure Urban Konkrete Records becomes a forerunner in the UK music industry.
Originally one half of Jungle pioneers, ‘Criminal Set’ he released the groundbreaking Dreamscape E.P in 1993 on One Nation Records which has since become regarded as one of the pre-cursors to the genre that we now call Drum & Bass.
He then went on to create Konkrete Productions with business partner and co-producer, Jim McNeilly, where they co-wrote, remixed and produced for the likes of Robin Millar, Estelle, Street Politiks, Ayak Thiik, Coree Richards, Bunzi D, Ben Ofoedu, Anton Gordon, Tony Thompson, Keisha White, Ive Mendes, Sam Roman, Austin Drage and Kelly Erez to name but a few.
At the beginning of 2011, a dance based act and production outfit called Black Ice was born and is Urban Konkrete Records first signing.
Consisting of Martin, Jim and vocalist/songwriter Aisha aka Prittychick, Black Ice are causing waves across the social networking sites, in particular SoundCloud, where their debut Black Ice E.P and it’s remixes, licensed through PH Recordings, have a combined total of over 12,000 plays in 3 months. Their Raving, I’m Raving feat. Ben Ofoedu track has received nearly 4000 plays and over 1000 downloads in just 1 month also.
With the release of the Black Ice album in 2012 on Urban Konkrete Records, Martin is paving the way with a number of high quality and specific single and remix releases that will feature both established and new artists such as Fee Fee, Mr Rootsy and Artful.
The first release, which is out now and available on iTunes and other leading retailers, is a remix package of former Damage frontman, Coree Richards’ new single, I Am Here, a 3 track E.P with remixes from Fraser, Black Ice and Artful (Mark Hill of Artful Dodger fame).
With it's release last year, Fuzion really is a landmark album of different
styles and influences bonded together with the trademark sound of Black
Ice. The album has guest appearances from Mr Rootsy, Fee Fee, violinist
Rich Strings and 4 times Ivor Novello award winner Mark Hill, one half of
Artful Dodger and co-writer and producer of Craig David's Born To Do It
album. To preview and purchase Fuzion please click on the album cover to
